Just 45 minutes north of Vancover and 40 minutes south of the reknown
ski resort Whistler (Host of the 2010 Olympics), Squamish is part
of the region known as Sea to Sky Country - a gateway to natural
surroundings, clean air and incredible beauty.
The Sea to Sky region is located in southweatern British Columbia,
a province in Canada. It is just 66 kilometres (41 miles) north
of Vancouver and 289 kilometres (181) miles north of Seattle, Washington.
The region comprises approximately 1.6 million hectares of land
and over 25,000 residents.
Sea to Sky is set admidst some of the most spectacular scenery
in the world beginning at the western shores of the Pacific Ocean
at Britannia Beach. It extends through the high mountainous ski
resort of Whistler up to the small rural communities of Pemberton
and D'arcy.
The entire region is accessible by a major highway (Highway 99)
which extends form Horseshoe Bay in West Vancouver to Pemberton
and Lillooet in the Cariboo Chilcotin region. In addition, there
are excellent port facilities in Squamsh, a rail line connecting
Northern BC with the Lower Mainland, and airfields in Squamish and
Pemberton.
